The Penn Technology Investment Committee (PTIC) has created a fund to encourage thoughtful experimentation with emerging technologies that have the possibility of contributing to the overall benefit of the University. The fund is designed to help pilot ideas with potential to lead to new or improved services with broader application across schools and centers, without requiring the initiating organization to bear the full cost of the pilot.
Individuals and teams are eligible and encouraged to submit proposals. Proposals are evaluated on domain-relevant criteria, but also with an eye to the idea's potential, if successfully developed, to advance the effective delivery of Penn's teaching, research, and service missions, promote standards and interoperability across units, save money, and/or facilitate regulatory and policy compliance.
PTIC IT Development Fund proposals are first presented to Common Solutions Group for sponsorship, then to IT Roundtable for two-thirds majority vote approval. Final approval resides with the Office of the CIO.
