The Express Mail data collection is a subset of the University Data Warehouse containing data from the Express Mail application. The Express Mail data collection contains current and historic information regarding packages shipped, their associated costs, and the General Ledger budget codes to which those costs have been assigned.

Source of the Data
The data in the Data Warehouse that is accessible via the Business Objects Express Mail universe comes from the Express Mail application following the successful feed to the General Ledger.

Time Span Covered
The Data Warehouse stores current as well as historical information on shipped packages and their related costs, as well as the General Ledger account where those costs reside. The collection contains transactions dated as early as May 20, 2008, falling into the JUN-08 accounting period, when the first UPS invoice was generated, and continues from that point, through the current open period.

The Express Mail collection is described in the Express Mail diagram. The diagram illustrates the architecture of a specific BusinessObjects universe and identifies the join criteria between tables.

The Express Mail diagram identifies the tables that make up the Express Mail universe and their join criteria. This diagram should be printed using landscape orientation.

The BusinessObjects Corporate Documents area provides access to pre-defined, prompt-driven reports that you can run to retrieve a standardized perspective on your data.

Express Mail Shipment Detail: This report provides Express Mail shipping detail and summary information for a selected ORG range and transaction period.

Data training for this collection is offered on an ad hoc basis -- please contact Enterprise Information & Analytics for assistance with specific training questions. You can also refer to the table and element documentation for information and cautions about specific data.

In general, individuals should have access to the General Ledger data collection in order to obtain automatic access to the Express Mail data collection for the same authorized organizations. If a user does not currently have General Ledger collection access, they must complete the Express Mail Data Access eForm, and obtain supervisor, school access administrator (or senior business officer), and data steward approval.

Releasing Data Within the University
Within the University, Express Mail data may be disclosed only if it is needed to do the business of the University, and only to those who need to know the information in order to do their jobs. If you are not sure whether to fulfill a request for this information, call the Penn Mail Services Group.
