Secure Your Information for Students

Welcome to Penn!

As Penn student, you enjoy high-speed internet and wireless connectivity across campus. With connectivity comes the responsibility to protect your confidential information. Penn takes various measures to secure your information, and we depend on you to do the same.

Follow these three steps to protect your confidential information and the University computing assets:

Enroll in Two-Step Verification

Two-Step Verification provides an added layer of protection when accessing PennKey-protected websites and applications. Step 1 is your PennKey and password, and Step 2 is using the Duo Mobile app, a Duo hardware fob, or a Security Key.

  • For more information on Two-Step, visit https://upenn.edu/twostep
  • To enroll in Two-Step, visit: https://upenn.edu/manage-twostep
Install and run antivirus

Ask your School or Center's IT support staff for the best anti-virus software to install and run.

Understand Penn’s Policy on Unauthorized Copying and Copyrighted Media

Violation of Unauthorized Copying and Copyrighted Media policy may result in losing your connectivity, civil suits, criminal charges, and/or penalties and fines. Visit the Copyright and File-Sharing page for information on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and on legal alternatives to peer-to-peer file sharing.
