Penn 2024 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

The University of Pennsylvania Office of Information Security is beginning to celebrate the 2024 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month(NCSAM) by inviting the SANS organization to teach a six-day SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling course. 

  • Event dates: September 30th – October 5th
    • Monday: 8:00 am- 5:00pm ET. Please be early to pick up course material and enjoy breakfast. 
    • Tuesday-Saturday: 9:00 am-5:00 pm ET
  • Venue: Quorum Science Center
    • 3675 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19104
  • Course Information and Laptop Requirements: Here is the link to the minimum laptop requirements for this class: SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling.  Please confirm these requirements will be met before September 30th. 
    • Course materials will be picked up at the venue. Attendees with special circumstances will receive course material at the provided mailing address; tracking information will be provided for those attending virtually. These shipments should be placed in a secure area until the start of class.

The Office of Information Security (OIS) Will participate in the University of Pennsylvania Employee Resource Fair on October 1st, 202, from 12:00 - 1:30 pm, at Pottruck Health & Fitness Center, 3701 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. 19104.

Free Movie Screening for Students - Venom: The Last Dance

Free & Legal (Venom: The Last Dance Movie Screening): OIS will host this movie night for students on October 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Cinemark Theater on Walnut. The free screening of “Venom: The Last Dance” will be preceded by a brief discussion on the DMCA, Penn’s copyright policy, and 2-Step Verification. This movie night is open to all Penn students; however, pre-event registration is required due to limited theater seating.
