Joshua Beeman is Penn’s Associate Vice President of Information Technology & Associate Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for all areas of IT management, operations, and strategy, including: ISC Finance and Planning, ISC Human Resources, IT Strategy, Portfolio and Project Management, ISC Information Security, IT Supply Chain, Asset and Vendor Management, ISC Systems and Tools, ISC Communications, Service Management, Organizational Effectiveness, and the Digital Transformation program.
Prior to the ACIO position, Joshua served for eight years as Penn's Information Security Officer, where he established an award-winning campus Information Security program in response to a charge from the University's Institutional Risk Committee.
Previously, Joshua was a senior manager for Customer Value Partners in Washington, DC, working as a program manager on an Information Assurance contract for the federal government and on the development and refinement of the company’s Information Assurance practice. Prior to his stint in Washington, Joshua was the team leader of the Senior Cyber Security Advisor program at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he worked with senior lab management on the identification, management and mitigation of information security risks.
Before those positions, Joshua was employed at Penn for over ten years, first as IT director of hospital systems at the School of Veterinary Medicine, and then as IT security specialist senior in the Office of Information Security.
Joshua is CISSP, GSEC and GCIH certified and received BA and MA degrees in Archaeology from UCLA and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively.
