The July 2017 update (revision 54) to the four-year University-wide technology roadmap is available to University constituents as a PDF document on Penn+Box at:
https://upenn.box.com/v/techroadmaps
The primary goal of this technology roadmap is to help Penn’s technology professionals make contextual decisions within the overall University technology environment. It is intended for internal use—please do not forward it to non-Penn individuals.
This seventh update to the roadmap that was initially released almost two years ago has 63 of the 173 existing technologies modified in some way. Nine technologies are newly tracked—Supplier Portal Initiative, Assignments, DHCP, DNS, Domain Names, Network Time Protocol (NTP), Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, macOS 10.13.x, and Safari 11.x. Also, three technologies have been removed; Student Account Services (BRS), Undergraduate Admissions, and Internet Explorer 10. Finally, Next-Generation HCM (Workday) separates into Wave 1 and Wave 2. All modified technologies are delineated by an orange box to the right of their name and described in the change logs on the final pages of the roadmap.
This roadmap represents a best current estimate of the status of these technologies. It will often revise over time and is completely re-evaluated every quarter. My thanks go to the many individuals across the University (almost 30) who have assisted in compiling this eighth release of the roadmap.
For those interested in more detail on the technology roadmap, I will present at a lunchtime learning on August 16th, where I will discuss the genesis and creation of the roadmap, its change over time, and plans for the future. More information is available here:
