Update: October 26, 2016. There is now a workaround available from the Connect to AirPennNet network.
On October 24, 2016, Apple released iOS 10.1. In early testing of the iOS 10.1 beta, and now with the public release of iOS 10.1, Information Systems & Computing (ISC) has determined that iOS 10.1 is not compatible and does not function with AirPennNet or eduroam. Removing and re-adding the profile (often a successful troubleshooting step in the past) does not help. The messaging is:
“Unable to join the network “AirPennNet’”
At this point, the only option is a “Dismiss” button. AirPennNet-Guest works as expected.
Apple has been notified and a bug report has been submitted. Until Apple addresses this issue with a future update, ISC strongly advises against installation of iOS 10.1 if you need connectivity with AirPennNet or eduroam.
