Pennant users are encouraged to follow the current University-wide desktop recommendations when choosing new systems.
The minimum requirements for Windows users are:
- Windows 7 SP1
- 4 GB RAM (8 GB or above is highly recommended)
- Oracle Java 8
The minimum requirements for OS X users are:
- OS X version 10.9.5
- 4 GB RAM (8 GB or above is highly recommended)
- Oracle Java 8
Additional recommendations for using Pennant:
- Frequent users likely will have a superior experience with two displays as they often may have multiple pages or apps open simultaneously.
Optional: users may wish to have the ability to use GoToMeeting, so that support personnel can view the user’s screen remotely if necessary.

Web browser recommendations when using Pennant:
Pennant:
- For Windows systems, the current version of Firefox performs best when accessing any element of the Pennant system. Chrome will not function reliably, as Google is planning to remove support for the Java plug-in later in 2015.
- For OS X systems, the current version of Firefox or Safari perform best when accessing any element of the Pennant system. Chrome will not function reliably, as Google is planning to remove support for the Java plug-in later in 2015.
